ANGLO-SAXON, Anglo-Viking (Danish Northumbria). Cnut. Circa 900-905. AR Penny (19mm, 1.42 g, 3h). Class IIe/Cunnetti type. Eoferwic (York) mint. Inverted patriarchal cross, with four pellets around lower crossbar; C N V T at end of limbs, with R (trefoil), E, (quatrefoil) X, and (quatrefoil) in quarters / Short cross pattée, with pellet in 1st and 4th quarters. L&S IIe; SCBI 29 (Merseyside), 281 (same rev. die); BMC 927 var. (obv. legend); North 501; SCBC 993. Good VF, toned, minor flan waviness.
