ANCIENT COINS, Roman Imperial Coinage, Claudius, plated Denarius, London (?), c. 46-7, laureate head right, rev. spqr pp ob c s in three lines within wreath, 2.90g (RSC 87; BMC 45). Good very fine, the silvering virtually complete, scarce £400-500


Dated by the Tribunate to AD 46-7, these plated coins were produced in the earliest years of the Roman occupation of Britain. A group of them was found in 1996 by the River Waveney in East Anglia
