EASTERN EUROPE, Imitations of Philip II of Macedon. 3rd century BC. AR Drachm (15mm, 2.72 g, 3h). Dachreiter type. Struck by the Skordoski in Syrmia. Phase A. Celticized head of Zeus right / Horse left; wheel with four spokes above. Popović pl. 8, 12–pl. 9, 10; OTA 188/2-3; Lanz 458–9; CCCBM I 99 corr. (type); KMW 1110-1. VF, toned, light cleaning marks, a couple light scratches. Well centered and struck.

The reverse of this type removed the horseman that appears on the issues of Philip II, replacing him with a wheel above the horse. On this example, though, the engraver retained the leg and foot of the horseman, which are still visible on the side of the horse!
