CRUSADERS, Venetians in the Levant(?). nomine Antonio Venier. Circa 1382-1423. AV Ducat (20mm, 3.47 g, 2h). Imitating Venice. Uncertain mint. St. Mark standing right, holding Gospels and presenting banner containing two pellets to Doge kneeling left / STTXPCIIQVITI IDRDIRTITEAT, Christ standing facing, raising hand in benediction and holding Gospels, surrounded by elliptical halo containing four stars to left, five to right. Cf. CNI VII 32; cf. Ives pl. XIII; cf. Gamberini 344 (Roberto d'Angio pr. Acaia) and 394 (Chios [La Maona]); cf. Triton XVII, lot 1457 and Triton XII, lot 893. VF, struck with rusty dies.
