Junnosuke Inoue, businessman and banker was twice Governor of the Bank of Japan, 1919-23 and 1927-28. He was assassinated in the "League of Blood" incident. In this, a Buddist priest, born Inoue Shirō, was trying to rid Japan of pro-Western thinking and wanted to restore Hirohito to supreme political power. In the end he only managed to have killed two of the twenty names on his assassination list of politicians and businessmen. Junnosuke Inoue was gunned down by Sho Onuma 9 February 1932, as he stepped from his car at the Komamoto Elementary School in Tokyo, where he was to give a political speech.
