CHINA. Pattern 25 Cents (1/4 Dollar), ND (1910). Tientsin Mint. NGC MS-64.
L&M-26; K-221; WS-0038; Wenchao-100 (rarity three stars). Struck in silver. Denominated "1/4 DOL.". A gorgeous example of this rarity with medium envelop toning over most of periphery, but leaving the dragon a brilliant contrasting white. Full luster throughout showing the hard nearly mirror surfaces beneath the toning. Considerably rarer than the 1/2 Dollar piece of this series with a combined population from PCGS and NGC of only seventeen graded examples. Tied with three other pieces in this grade, two PCGS and one NGC, with only one piece graded mint state finer by a "+" grade at PCGS. There are two pieces at NGC which have proof and specimen grades respectively, which are each one point higher. NGC MS-64.
