CHINA. Chihli (Pei Yang Arsenal). Dollar, Year 24 (1898). NGC MS-64.
L&M-449; K-191; Y-65.2; WS-0616. Dragon with eyes in relief. A superb example of this classic provincial issue. The dragon is well struck, with all scales defined and complimented by the lustrous virtually mark free fields surrounding it. Light rose toning can be observed near the rim and strong satin luster pervades the entire coin. This piece is used as a plate example in "Top Chinese Coins" by Chou, Guth and Smith. A very attractive piece. Tied with three others in this grade, all from PCGS, with only one piece finer by one point. NGC MS-64.

W&B Capital Collection.

Estimate: $20000.00- $30000.00
