CHINA--REPUBLIC. Bank of China. 1 to 100 Dollars, 1.5.1917. P-37Jp to 37Np. Proofs.
10 pieces in lot. Face and back proofs mounted to card stock. Included are all denominations with the One, Five, 10, 50 and 100 Dollar pieces present. All face impressions seen in black inks with precise detail of the increasing format size according to denomination. Backs seen with different colors for each denomination and again show the engraving artistry of the American Banknote Company. All face designs seen with prominent three-quarters facing portrait vignette of Li Yuan-hong within rectangular frame. Large central guilloche with denomination within each and seen with place name fields at left and right of all face designs. Back designs in English with large central guilloches on all with May 1st 1917 date at lower center.

This set is one that surely is missing in even the most well shaped collections. The notes show printed on India paper and mounted to card stock for all included with all being terrifically preserved, save for the reverse of the Dollar 50 design which shows a bit of glue bleed through. Each face design seen with additional sheet selvage at the top with bank name and plate number noticed. Back proofs with additional selvage as well with plate number at top center. Once this set passes into the next collection we would imagine it will be very tightly held, making this rare opportunity one that should not be neglected. Bid accordingly. Uncirculated.

Estimate: $30000.00- $40000.00
