Wessex, Edward the Elder (899-924), Penny, 1.25g, two line (HT1) type, Danelaw imitation struck at a mint in the NE, Raegenulf?, small cross pattée within inner circle, rev. regei / vle mo, divided by three small cross pattée, trefoil above and below, regei retrograde (CTCE 248 var; N.649 var; S.1087 var), c. 10% flan loss, scratch by reverse cross, a very pleasing strike with mostly original surfaces remaining, extremely fine.
