OSTROGOTHIC ITALY. Odovacer or Theodoric the Great (AD 493-526). AV solidus (21mm, 4.47 gm, 6h). Northern Italian mint (Bononia?), in the name of Zeno (AD 474-491). D N ZENO PERP AVC, pearl-diademed, helmeted and cuirassed bust facing, head slightly right, holding spear over right shoulder and shield with horseman motif on left arm / VICTORI AAVGGG Γ, Victory standing left, holding long jeweled cross; in right field, star and in exergue, CONOR. Cf. Lacam 32 and I pls. 209-213. Very rare! NGC MS 5/5 - 4/5.
