Struck to commemorate the cornerstone ceremony of the new Mint held on December 2, 1858. - VC-130 (for a wood specimen), Meili-101. Copper, 60mm, 93.48g. Choice About Uncirculated. Reverse: ESTRADA DE FERRO DE PEDRO II, locomotive engine, inscription.Struck to commemorate the inauguration of the Estrada de Ferro de Pedro II railway (later the Estrada de Ferro Central do Brasil) on March 29, 1858. The railway was commissioned by Pedro II to Edward Price and works had commenced on June 11, 1855.
