British Colony - George III countermarked 6 Shilling 1 Penny ND (1810-18) XF45 NGC, KM2, Prid-2. A Mexico Ferdinand VII 8 Reales 1818 Mo-JJ centrally countermarked with a crowned "GR" raised within an oval indent. This particular style can be assigned to ca. 1821 since a Zacatecas 8 Reales of that date has been noted by the cataloguer (Baldwin's 9/2011, lot 1873) as a base coin for it (the vast majority of the known specimens being dated 1818 - such as the present one - or 1819). An attractive example of this scarce countermarked issue, clearly superior to the Pridmore specimen.
