Charles II (posthumous) gold Cob 2 Escudos ND (1700-1709) MS63 NGC, Santa Fe mint, KM, Restrepo-36. An attractive Brilliant Uncirculated specimen of this gold cob issue. Despite the scant visible details due to the smallish planchet, the Castle-Lion arrangement coupled with the line dividing the bottom lys flowers on the obverse shield and the position of the "D (G)" letter to the left of said shield allow to catalog this as a posthumous Charles II issue struck between 1700-1709 under the reign of Philip V instead of the 1717-1746 period noted on the insert. A popular issue, quite scarce and much in demand in this quality.
Estimate: 1000-1500 USD
