Ferdinand VII gold 8 Escudos 1809 P-JF AU58 NGC, Popayan mint, KM66.2, Onza-1275. A lustrous coin with scant friction evidence on the higher points and relatively few contact marks. Some essentially unobtrusive small flan flaws on the obverse are mentioned for accuracy's sake. Similarly to the issues of the Nuevo Reino and Santiago (Chile) mints, this Ferdinand VII type was struck only with the Charles IIII bust due to the proper punches of the new king never reaching those mints. Certainly elusive and desirable in this engaging quality.
Estimate: 1500-2000 USD
