Louis XIV 1/2 Ecu 1649-(9) MS64 NGC, Rennes mint, KM164.24, Gad-169. A remarkable survivor with surfaces that are most appropriately described as "as struck." A hint of tone is detected, but blast-white luster dominates the appearance. In addition to being the finest example we have seen from a technical standpoint and the finest graded of the date, this coin is also currently the plate coin for the type in the NGC World Coin Price Guide.
