George III Proof "Draped Bust" 3 Shillings Bank Token 1812 PR64 PCGS, Royal mint, KM-Tn4, S-3769, ESC-415. Subtle gleaming reflectivity exists on both sides with variegated green and gold iridescence that meanders about. Unlisted in Proof format and presumably created as a result of the 1800-dated law that mandated a "Proof of Record" for each type struck in a given year be produced for institutional holding. The present piece, one of only four examples certified by PCGS and NGC combined, is the only piece to come to market in recent memory. As such, a very important coin, and for the expert collector of this short-lived Bank of England series, a piece that will be instantly recognized as one of the keys.
Estimate: 2000-3000 USD
