1815 Battle of Waterloo copper-electrotype Medal ND MS63 Brown NGC, Eimer-1067, BHM-870, 134mm. By Pistrucci. A massive electrotype medal with rich mahogany color featuring the the conjoined, laureate busts of Prince Regent, Francis II of Austria; Alexander I of Russia; and Frederick William III of Prussia. Encircling the figures is a border that is fully-illustrated with allegorical figures and Apollo driving a quadriga. The reverse depicts Victory advancing with equestrian figures in Roman dress and Jupiter driving a quadriga, surrounded by a border filled with battling giants. A wonderful medal intended to memorialize the most famous battle of the 19th century which was never struck, as the dies proved to be too large to be practical for even the Royal Mint's giant medal press. Most likely finished around 1840, a scarce and always in demand historical medal. NGC photo certificated is included.

Estimate: 1000-1500 USD
