George IV gold Proof 5 Pounds 1826 PR62 Cameo PCGS, Royal mint, KM702, S-3797, WR-213 (R3). A classic 19th century proof, bold in its execution and imposing through its size, with an ornate high-relief portrait of the King on the obverse and stylistically perfected Hanover arms on the reverse. The present piece, toned most-magnificently in vibrant orange hues, further catches the eye with its cameo appearance, created by mark-free, starkly contrasted devices and minimally hairlined fields. Under magnification, some field smoothing to the left of George's portrait, expertly accomplished and camouflaged with the surrounding surfaces, is noted; if not for this fact, this rarity would have certainly graded significantly finer! All considered, a coin that showcases seldom-rivaled eye-appeal for the type, and for the collector looking to obtain as much visual impact as possible for the dollar, serious consideration is a must.

Estimate: 30000-35000 USD
