George IV silver Proof Coronation Medal 1821 PR64 PCGS, BHM-1070, Eimer-1146a. By Benedetto Pistrucci. An official Royal Mint issue struck in high-relief with classic, argent-gray patina, blue and magenta iridescence that clings to the devices, and attractively styled design elements. Featuring an enthroned George IV being crowned by Victory, with Britannia, Hibernia, and Scotia before him, inauguration date in exergue. Quite possibly scarce in this state of preservation and highly interesting as such. Sold with an old (possibly original) black box containing creamy satin and blue velvet housing. For reference, a similarly spectacular Coronation Medal of Victoria hammered for $5,000 in our 2011 CICF Signature sale.
Estimate: 1500-2000 USD
