Victoria silver Proof Pattern Shilling 1863 PR64 PCGS, ESC-1374 (R3). Plain edge. CH.W. (for Charles H. Wiener) incuse on neck truncation. A most-desirable example of this "intermediate-head" pattern shilling of Victoria, "perfectly" preserved for the collector, with deep multicolored iridescence, full reflectivity in the fields and notable, albeit only faintly contrasting, frost over the motifs. The reserve design closely resembles that of the standard issue coinage of the date. Extremely rare, we have located no other recent sales records for this type, a truly startling finding given the number of Victorian rarities that have emerged from strong-held collections over the last decade due to steadily escalating prices.
