Victoria 1/2 Crown 1841 MS64 PCGS, Royal mint, KM740, S-3888. A superb representative of this very rare date, and perhaps the finest extant; this coin being clearly the finest that we have seen in addition to existing as the single finest graded example by PCGS and NGC. The surfaces, as one might expect of such of coin, have been wonderfully preserved over the centuries, with radiant mint bloom remaining throughout. Original cabinet tone adds to the appearance, with beautiful blue-green and gold toning at the obverse legends and a fuller palette of the similar hues on the reverse. Close inspection yields precious few marks with a small as-made void on Victoria's neck serving as an important pedigree marker. Next to the 1839 date, the most desirable of all the "Young Head" halfcrown issues, and as a result, a coin that will certain attract fierce bidding until the hammer falls.Ex. Superior Auctions (12/1993), Lot 1180.

Estimate: 10000-15000 USD
