Cisalpine Republic. Revolutionary Scudo of 6 Lire Year VIII (1800) MS64 NGC, Milan mint. KM-C2, Pagani-8; Gigante-2, Dav-199. A stunning crown from this Revolutionary State, featuring a seated Minerva representing the French Republic, extending her hand to the figure personifying the Cisalpine Republic, cornucopia below and stork beside. Visually outstanding, with surfaces awash in desirable cabinet patina that is accented by peach iridescence, and high-relief devices that tower over their watercolor-esque backdrop. Well-deserving of its select classification, and perhaps even worthy of a prooflike designation due to the awe-inspiring reflectivity that radiates from within the fields. Scarce in this superb state of preservation.Ex. Grundy Collection.
