War of Independence - Morelos silver 8 Reales 1813 F12 NGC, Oaxaca (?) mint, KM-unl. (the insert indicates KM235 but that is a cast issue), Calico-570. Unflawed with even wear and quite attractive for this immensely crude issue. Struck over a cast planchet with rough edge design in imitation of the Spanish Colonial regular issues. Specialists of this challenging series reckon two main characteristics of the Morelos series: silver coins are much rarer than the copper ones and struck coins are much rarer than the cast ones. This doubly rare example - struck and in silver - should thus prove quite popular.
