"Seven Years' War: Preliminaries for Peace" silver Medal 1762 MS62 NGC, Eimer-702, Betts-442. 43mm. (The NGC insert lists this under Great Britain). By J. Holtzhey. An enchanting medal struck upon the conclusion of the Seven Years' War featuring an American Indian with bow and quiver, supporting Cupid who is placing the figure of peace upon a column that displays a double-headed eagle insignia, two shields at the base representing England and France, Roman numeral date in exergue, and legends in Latin. The reverse depicts Commerce seated on a Belgic lion with cornucopia below, liberty cap on a staff to the right, and sailing ships in the background. An incredibly illustrative medal with all-over battleship-gray patina, darker tone that drips from the devices, and underlying golden luster. Rare so choice.
