British Mandate 20 Mils 1940 MS66 NGC, KM5. The single finest coin of this date graded at either NGC or PCGS and very possible the finest example of this important issue in existence with icy luster that cascades over the surfaces, even color and no mentionable marks over either side. While comparably close in quality to the MS65-graded Gem in the Mandate Mints! collection that we sold at CICF last year for $5,287.50, the present piece deservingly received a higher grade, with its intense luster and uniform color making it a worthy recipient of its extra point. A coin that we don't hesitate to label as "great", and one that is certain to attract feverish bidding until the hammer falls.
