Griquatown. British Colony nickel-plated copper Proof Pattern Penny ND (1890) PR63 Cameo NGC, Hern-GT22. An extremely rare nickel-plated variety of this type, thought to be produced in quantities as low as 20 by Otto Nolte & Co. of Berlin, with stunning reflectivity remaining in the fields and delicately frosted central motifs. More attractive than the grade suggests, the surfaces are smooth champagne-colored as a result of the plating, and whatever handling is present doesn't severely reduce the appearance. The first we have seen.
