Provisional Government copper Uniface Trial 100 Pesetas Obverse & Reverse Pair 1870, Madrid mint, KM-unl., Cal-unl. (but patterns in copper are mentioned on page 806 and considered "rarisimas"). A pair of uniface copper Trial Strikes for the gold 100 Pesetas 1870 (KM664) and stamped "Prueba" on the reverse certified as follows: the Trial strike for the obverse SP64 Brown PCGS, the one for the reverse SP64 Red Brown PCGS. Both Choice Prooflike and showing significant red hues. With a reported mintage of 12 and less than 10 confirmed examples, the gold Spain 100 Pesetas of 1870 is among the most legendary modern world issues: suffice to say that one of those specimens realized the highest price in the legendary Hammel sale in 1982 (lot 632). The present pair of official trial strikes of that iconic issue are doubtlessly very rare and should attract serious attention.
Estimate: 3000-4000 USD
