Al Nasir Ahmad bin Yahya gold 1/2 Riyal AH1371 (1952) MS66 NGC, KM-G16.1. A superb offering featuring double crescents below the accession date of AH1367 on the obverse and a reverse illustrating the full date of AH1371, denomination, and mint name. Altogether lustrous surfaces are fully golden and boldly-struck design elements are choice for the issue. Very few records of this type seem to exist, and at present time this is the single-finest certified example of this date by NGC, with only one other graded specimen (MS65) that was by all accounts sold in the Maison Palombo auction of 11/12 and hammered at $8,840. While other denominations have sold in the marketplace, it seems that the 1/2 Riyal series hasn't made an appearance since. Rare and quite possibility unique in this state of preservation.
Estimate: 4000-6000 USD
