JUDAEA. Herodian Kings. Agrippa II, with Nero and Agrippina (AD 49/50 - 94/95). Æ 18mm (5.57 gm). Pre-royal issue, mint of Caesarea Maritima, AD 54/5. Head of Agrippina Junior left, hair in queue / Laureate, draped bust Nero left. Hendin 1272. TJC 360. RPC 4861. Rare! Green-earthen patina, somewhat rough on reverse. Good Very Fine / Very Fine. The side with Nero's head is identified as the obverse in most references, but the fabric of this rare coinage makes it clear Agrippina's head actually occupies the obverse. This dates the issue conclusively to the brief era of Agrippina's ascendency, which ended early in AD 55.
