Pedro II Award Medal Pair 1873, Rio de Janeiro mint. Lot of two award medals, as follows:- VC-117. Silver, Choice Extremely Fine, cleaned. Struck for the 3rd National Exhibition in 1873.- VC-117. Copper, Extremely Fine, scratches on obverse. Similar to last, but struck in copper. These award medals of the 1873 National Exhibition show the conjoined busts of the Imperial couple on the obverse and the building of the original Escola Politecnica in Rio de Janeiro - where the exposition was held in January of 1873 - on the reverse. Several of the exposed products were naturally also exposed in the Vienna International Exposition held later that year. The silver variant rare, the copper very scarce.
