This die-combination, featuring the Young Head portrait, only exists as a pattern, or proof, and quite likely came into existence as a sample of what the Jubilee coinage might have looked like had the J.E. Boehm portrait not been accepted for the Jubilee celebration. However, as other denominations of this year also show this portrait, it may be considered to be a Proof of Record, or record proof, struck before the Boehm portrait was adopted. However you view it, this is an elusive coin blessed with exceptional eye-appeal.

Estimate: £18,000-20,000
