Republic 8 Reales 1847 C-CE XF45 PCGS, Culiacan mint, KM377.3, DP-Cn02. Attractive for the designation with partial luster and well struck on an attractive unflawed planchet. A superb example of this rare date, the more elusive in the entire Culiacan series and usually found in lower grades. The damaged Fine specimen of the legendary Gerber collection (Spink America 6/1996, lot 182) is a case in point of the latter occurrence. When commenting on this key issue, DP notes "A true, high grade, problem-free example would be a high prize". Here is an opportunity to secure such a specimen!
Estimate: 1500-2000 USD
