Mexico
Republic 8 Reales 1847 Mo-MF XF40 PCGS, Mexico City mint, KM377.10, DP-Mo31. An attractive and problem-free coin, with even wear commensurate with the assigned grade and old cabinet toning albeit softly struck in the centers (DP notes "softness (of strike is) .. the norm" and plates a comparably softly struck coin. The key date of the entire Mexico city production, and among the most sought after in the entire Caps and Rays series. The Gerber example was considered special enough to share the cover of the sale catalog of the second and final portion of that legendary group with pieces such as a fine Real de Catorce 1811 insurgent 8 Reales, the "royal" Nueva Viscaya 1811 8 Reales and a probably unique 1823 Hookneck silver 8 Reales pattern among a few other coins. Here is a chance to secure a wholesome specimen of this important issue, very rare and sought after in any grade and most desirable in this quality.

Estimate: 2500-3000 USD
