Large flan, high conservation, beautiful portrait, cabinet tone, good extremely fine.

Originally named Sybaris, Thourioi was founded in 446 BC with Athenian aid by those persistent exiles, the Sybarites. In 444 BC the city received additional colonists from Athenian territories. This mixing of people is reflected in the types chosen for the city's coins: Athena taking the obverse while the bull of Sybaris is on the reverse where there was also the new name that was taken from a local rushing spring: the Thuria.
