Gordian III (238-244), Bimetallic Medallion, Rome, c. AD 242; AE (g 63,96; mm 38; h 1); IMP GORDIANVS PIVS FELIX AVG, laureate and cuirassed bust r., wearing aegis, Rv. ADLOCVTIO AVGVSTI, emperor standing r. on a platform, accompanied by praetorian prefect, haranguing the soldiers. C 5; Gnecchi II, pl. 103, 2.
Very rare. Green patina, high relief, about extremely fine.

Ex Hess-Divo 24, 1964.

Restoration and cleaning report: during the analysis of this medallion, the microscope observation has revealed the top black deposition in limited areas, on the green original patina, probably the Chalcocite (Cu2S) formation. Under microscope magnification, was mechanically operations removed this layer, showing again the original green patina on both side of the coin.
