From the Frank James Collection.
Usually attributed to Skylletion in Bruttium on the basis of the Skylla on the reverse, this type has been found in excavations in Locri and in north-central Sicily and is often found overstruck on a Syracusan litra, such as with this coin. Traces of the undertype can be seen on the pileus on the obverse.
