Alexander III 'the Great', 336-323 BC. Stater (Gold, 18mm, 8.61g 6), 'Amphipolis', uncertain mint in Macedonia, c. 330-320 BC. Head of Athena to right, wearing Corinthian helmet adorned with serpent. Rev. ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ Nike standing left, holding wreath in her right hand and stylis in her left; to left, trident head downwards. Price 172. A splendid piece. Virtually as struck.
