Alexander's Empire in the East

Satraps of Babylonia. Babylon. period of Stamenes through Seleukos, c. 328-311. Double Daric (Gold, 17mm, 16.61g). Persian king in running-kneeling position to right, wearing kidaris and kandys and with a quiver over his shoulder, holding spear in his right hand and bow in his left; to left, satrapal bonnet. Rev. Large 'wave' pattern incuse punch. Friedberg 462 (this coin illustrated). Nicolet-Pierre 12. Sunrise 159 (this coin). Very rare. Boldly and clearly struck. Some flat striking and a few very minor marks, otherwise, good very fine.
