PHRYGIA, Apameia. Circa 88-40 BC. Æ (6.63 g). Helmeted bust of Athena right, [wearing aegis] / [Eagle landing right on maeander pattern; star above, caps of the Dioskouroi flanking, magistrate's name in two lines below]. Cf. SNG München 110-1 (for type); cf. SNG Copenhagen 164 (same); HGC 7, 670. Fine, orangish earthen black-green patina, reverse smoothed away and pointilated decoration applied in antiquity. Possibly reused as a commercial weight.
