COMMEMORATIVE MEDALS, World Medals, Sweden, Gustav I Vasa (1496-1523-1560), Oval Silver Portrait Medal, believed French, mid-18th Century, bust right with flowing beard over armour with sash, ruff collar, name stamped below, GVSTAV WASA, four various hallmarks above head, crowned V in triangle – the date letter for 1760 for the Maison Commune (Paris); trident(?) in oval; date letter N – in Sweden 1771; and another unidentified, all within a scrolled openwork border, face and loop at top, winged females at sides, 111.5mm x 81mm (the medal approx 76.5mm x 62mm). A handsome item, very fine and extremely rare.
