INDIAN COINS, MISCELLANEOUS, Victoria, Copper Rupee Weights (4), with the following inscriptions: MINIMUM WEIGHT OF GOV'T RUPEE 176.4 Grs., uniface; MINIMUM WEIGHT OF RUPEE 15/16 TOLA; MINIMUM WEIGHT OF RUPEE 13/16 TOLA; MINIMUM WEIGHT OF RUPEE 3/4 TOLA. First extremely fine with some verdigris on the reverse, the others about uncirculated, with some lustre. (4)
These were used at banks to take in old, worn and underweight Rupees. One would assume the standards changed over time, but it is also likely that the weights were used in different parts of India.
Estimate: £400-600
