Egypt. Circa 1800-1500 BC. Steatite scarab (17x12mm). Base with central crocodile over wavy line representing water; the hieroglyphs nsw nkh hrs djt m't mn above and nb below, the whole meaning "King of life, Lord Horus, keeper of great truth." Back finely carved, showing good detail of the head, legs, and wings. Pierced for suspension. Break on back at clypeus, otherwise a very fine piece.
