Lower Egypt or Levant. Circa 1800-1500 BC. Green jasper scarab (17x12mm). Base with an unfinished carvving of the hieroglyphs hty m't meaning "Truth within a man." Back finely carved with defined legs, head, clypeus and wings. Pierced for suspension. Keel (Frankfort festschrift) p. 63-4. Minor chips around base.
