Papyrusfragment des 2. Jh. v. Chr. Aus ca. 14 Fragmenten bestehendes Dokument von ca. 150 x 190 mm, gewonnen aus der Makulatur einer Mumienumhüllung. Mit Transkription und Übersetzung des griechischen Textes. Beidseitig unter Plexiglas montiert, vorzüglich erhalten.

Dieser Papyrus bietet sich als papiergeldnahes Wirtschaftsdokument einer frühen Zeit aufgrund folgender Beobachtungen an:
- das Material. Papyrus hat den Namen für das Papier geliefert.
- die explizite Nennung eines gängigen Münznominals χαλκον δραχμη Kupferdrachme.
- Unterfragment c bezeichnet eine Zahlenkolonne, wahrscheinlich Kupferdrachmen.
- Unterfragment b enthält eine Rechnung mit Kupferdrachmen und das Ergebnis-(Gleichheits-)Zeichen (γíνεται).
Die ägyptische Wirtschaft war bei verbreiteter Schriftlichkeit intensiv monetarisiert und verfügte über ein ausgefeiltes Bankwesen für monetäre Transaktionen jeder Art.

This papyrus can be considered as a "paper money related" document of ancient times due to:
- the material. Papyrus has provided us with the word "paper".
- a common coin denomination is explicitly spelled out χαλκον δραχμη = copper drachm.
- subfragment c displays an array of numbers, probably copper drachmes.
- subfragment b features a calculation with copper drachmes and the "equals"-sign (γíνεται).
The Egyptian economy of the time was highly monetarized and written transactions form a major portion of all papyri finds. The country commanded a sophisticated banking system capable of practically every kind of monetary transaction.
