ARABIA, Southern. Saba'. Late 4th–mid 2nd centuries BC. AR gms – Half Unit (12mm, 1.50 g, 7h). Imitating Athens. Helmeted head of Athena right; [G (in South Arabian; mark of value) on cheek] / Owl standing right, head facing; monogram and 'cursive inscription' to left, royal Sabaean monogram to right. Van Alfen, Studies, Group SIII.B.11, uncertain dies; Huth, Arabian 46b; CAF 1.7ii; Huth 238; SNG ANS –; HGC 10, 728. Fine, patches of find patina, tiny chip at edge on obverse. Extremely rare, only three examples noted by Van Alfen.
