PHRYGIA, Cotiaeum. Caracalla. AD 198-217. Æ (33mm, 17.45 g, 2h). M. Aurelius Menel[aus, the younger?], archon for the second time. ANTΩNINOC AVΓOVCTOC, laureate head right / EΠI M AVPHΛ MENEΛ B APX B/KOT-I-A/EΩ-N, Hercules standing facing, head left, holding seated figure of Cybele and resting hand upon club; drum to right. Apparently unpublished, though cf. Milne, Notes p. 217, 3 (for the same obv. type and magistrate, and a rev. type featuring Hercules wrestling the Ceryneian Hind). VF, brown patina with traces of green. Extremely rare.
