Great Britain. Dollar, ND (1797-99). S.3765A; ESC-131; KM-626. George III Emergency issue oval countermarked Potosi 8 Reales dated 1793. Obverse portrait of Charles IV of Spain. Reverse, crowned shield of arms and pillars. Small oval countermark with the head of George III is very sharp. Overall an attractively toned and well struck piece. Little evidence of circulation. The original coins exhibits some signs of die stress. The Potosi countermark coins are very rare in high grade. NGC graded AU-55. Estimated Value $1,400 - 1,600 Ex: Purchased from Spink and Son 10 June 1956 (G5637).
