Indus Valley Oil Lamp, ca. 3rd - 2nd Millenium BC. A choice stone oil lamp from the Indus Valley, c. 3rd - 2nd Millennium BC. This superbly detailed example is 4-1/2"ﾝ long and is carved from blue-green chlorite characteristic of this region. The elongated spout of this leaf-shape lamp is deeply grooved and the sides are decorated with nicely carved design elements. Rare type, with strong mineral encrustation. Ex Khan estate. Value range: $300 - $500.
