Sextus Pompey, 137 BC. Denarius (Silver, 19mm, 3.93 g 11), Rome. Helmeted head of Roma to right, wearing earring and pearl necklace; behind, jug; before X. Rev. She-wolf standing right, suckling twins Romulus and Remus; behind, ficus Ruminalis, with one bird perching on trunk and two birds perching on upper branches; on the left, Faustulus, identified by legend FOSTLVS; on right, SEX PO; in exergue, ROMA. Babelon (Pompeia) 1. Crawford 235/1c. Sydenham 461a. A bright and nicely struck example with some original mint luster. Somewhat irregular flan, otherwise, extremely fine.
