Octavian, Denarius (Silver, 20mm, 4.08 g 3), Rome, 32-31 BC. Head of Venus to right, wearing stephane. Rev. Octavian, in military attire and with cloak billowing out behind, striding to left, extending right hand and holding spear in his left; CAESAR DIVI F across field. BN 1-4. RSC 70. RIC 251. Reverse slightly off center and with a banker's mark at the center, otherwise, very fine.
The strategically placed banker's mark on the reverse may well be the discrete comment of an opponent of Octavian's! It is rather Catullan in nature.
